In order to make indispensable sampling in daily clinical life possible, the research laboratories at the University Hospital are located right next to the treatment areas: Open-plan laboratories for the Children's Hospital and S1/S2-Labs for the Women's Hospital.

For stem-cell production, blood banks and pharmaceutical manufacturing, cleanroom-laboratories are available, based on GMP guidelines. Here, drugs can be produced according to the requirements of the Medicine Act. The rooms are accessible only through air-locks.
